Why the hatch glass on the washing machine can burst

Hatch glass is present in horizontal loading washing machines. Complete with a door, it prevents water leakage from the drum. A crack is a rare but serious failure leading to the impossibility of further operation of the machine. Glass, or rather high-strength plastic, is designed to hit metal buttons, buckles, even at maximum spin speed.

Why the glass of the hatch can break: reasons

However, even such material is not safe from cracking for several reasons:

  1. Factory defects can provoke the appearance of a crack due to a defect in the installation of the hatch or a defect in the plastic that arose at the stage of its manufacture.
  2. Mechanical damage resulting from the fall of the machine or a powerful blow by a heavy object on the hatch, both from the outside and from the inside.
  3. The presence of a metal object with a significant overload of the drum.
  4. Violation of the uniform movement of the drum, increasing the pressure of the laundry being washed on the hatch door.

Important! If a faint crack appears, the glass should be replaced immediately to avoid serious defects during washing during high temperature conditions.

Opinion of a specialist service center (SC):

"25% of the faults are resolved after reading the operating instructions. And if you read it right away, then another 60% of the faults will never occur at all."

To protect the hatch from damage, it is enough to follow a few simple rules of operation:

  1. Choose a place for the washing machine with the condition of free opening of the door, without contact with other nearby objects.
  2. Check the contents of the pockets before washing.
  3. Fasten the metal buttons, zippers before washing and turn the clothes so that they are inside.
  4. If the gasket on the door is damaged, replace it as soon as possible.

Important! Do not try to seal the crack or solder it yourself. Destruction of the glass during the spin cycle can lead to unpredictable consequences.

If the machine is under warranty, you should contact the service center for a free repair. If you refuse, you can contact the court, which will appoint an examination.

Representatives of service centers believe that glass is self-destructing extremely rarely, it is broken by users due to non-compliance with operating rules.

Specialist opinion SC:

"By the nature of the damage, it is very likely to establish the cause of the damage. Then you can contact the manufacturer and it is entirely possible that your problem will be solved."
