Epilator and depilator what is the difference

Most girls get rid of unnecessary hair for the sake of a neat appearance or for hygiene. The modern cosmetology industry provides this procedure using various materials, allowing you to adapt to the characteristics of the skin, pain threshold and economic preferences.

The difference between the depilator and the epilator

Depilation involves temporary hair removal. As a rule, it does not affect the growth of the hair bulb. Such methods are most suitable for home independent use and have few contraindications. They are distinguished by an effective, but short-term result, as well as a relatively low cost.

Epilation provides longer term hair loss, and in some cases the final one. However, it requires a lot of time and money. Carrying out these procedures at home is highly discouraged, since it is likely to cause damage to yourself. In addition, epilators are distinguished by a high price and, in terms of payback, it is advantageous to use them only in salons for repeated use.

Types of devices for depilation

The differences between devices and tools for depilation - in efficiency and cost. Moreover, they all affect the skin in different ways, which allows you to choose for yourself the most comfortable and beneficial options. The main means of depilation include:

  1. Machine tools Differ in low cost and the shortest duration of action. However, they have practically no contraindications, which allows pregnant, lactating and allergic people to use them. But with frequent use for sensitive skin, it can cause irritation.
  2. Depilatory creams. They are great for skin with high sensitivity and for people with a low pain threshold, since when applied, the cream chemically dissolves the surface of the hair without directly affecting the skin. Before use, a skin test must be done to prevent allergic reactions. Some brands have a specific unpleasant odor.
  3. Wax. Hair removal occurs due to the adhesion of the hair with an adhesive mass. Between themselves, cold, warm and hot wax are distinguished, the application of which is differentiated by the treated zones. At home, the procedure is very likely to cause a wax burn, and the independent use of cold wax without the necessary skills often leads to breaking off the hairs and their further ingrowth.
  4. Sugaring. The most gentle depilation procedure compared to wax. In this case, sugar paste is used. No less effective, but is more safe and painless.
  5. Gel depilation. A relatively new method, which is still shrouded in many myths. Those who prefer it, position it as a way to remove hair forever, but user reviews have not yet confirmed this due to the small distribution of the application. The principle of action is the effect of the gel on the bulb: it destroys the protein, thereby stopping its development. It is characterized by comparative painlessness at the level of depilation creams. To achieve the result, a course of procedures is required, and the method itself is not yet very cheap.
  6. Depilatory. A simple and relatively cheap device. Since its principle of operation is based on quick and massive plucking of hair, it is highly painful. For this reason, some models are equipped with a cooling or massage effect. Using a depilator is also not very convenient for individual zones.

IMPORTANT! To obtain a good result after depilation, an important role is played by subsequent care. It is necessary to regularly scrub and moisturize the skin to prevent the possibility of hair growth.

Techniques and devices for hair removal

Many girls resort to more expensive hair removal procedures to get rid of their hair for a long time. However, it should be understood that a one-time procedure to achieve this goal is not enough - you must complete a whole course. Among the methods of hair removal, the following are most common:

  1. Laser It is based on the effect of laser radiation on the hair follicles and blood vessels from which they are nourished. After a course of procedures, the hair falls out by itself.
  2. Photoepilation. The procedure is based on the destruction of the bulb with a flash of light. However, for this it is necessary to carry it out at the active stage of hair growth. It will not have any effect on light or gray hair.
  3. Elos In this method, light exposure is combined with radio waves. To achieve the desired effect, at least ten procedures must be performed. It is the most painless hair removal.
  4. Thermolysis. According to this method, the follicle and the hair shaft are destroyed by electric current. The procedure is not the most pleasant and requires additional pain relief.
  5. Galvanic electrolysis. In this case, the hair bulb is destroyed by a chemical reaction, during which the electric current continuously passes through the saline solution.
  6. Blend Method It is a combination of galvanic electrolysis and thermolysis, which makes it one of the most effective, but also painful methods. It also requires a course of procedures.

IMPORTANT! Laser hair removal is contraindicated in the presence of diabetes and numerous moles.

What to choose

Modern cosmetology now does not limit its clients in choosing a method for ridding the skin of unwanted hair. Everyone can give preference to that method which is more preferable for it. Someone is guided by the price, someone by the quality, others - by the painfulness of the procedure. Unfortunately, there is no ideal option that would suit everyone. It all depends on the susceptibility of the skin and the structure of the hair.

Nevertheless, when choosing, you should not focus on the price. For example, machine tools are the cheapest option, but they require daily investments and, in some cases, a weekly change, which, when considering costs for several years, does not make such an option the most economical.
