How to clean a gas stove

When cooking, any oven will inevitably get dirty. Gas stoves are harder to clean than electric stoves, as the task is complicated by the burners that need to be disassembled, and a grill contaminated in any case, regardless of your accuracy.

How can I clean the gas stove

To clean the stove, you can purchase both professionally advertised products and cook folk ones yourself. The first are expensive, but they work quickly and not always with the expected effect; the second will cost very cheaply, eliminate pollution efficiently, but in some cases it comes to wait 8-12 hours. For convenience, many apply the product at night, and then cleaning the stove costs them a penny and without the cost of waiting.

Overview of folk gas stove cleaners

For different elements of the plate, different cleaning methods and means are used, however, in general, a list of particularly popular products that are suitable for use in most cases can be made:

  • 1) Soap solution. One of the most popular and cheapest means. Sometimes it is combined with others to get a better result. To prepare it, you need to rub a third or half of a bar of laundry soap, and then dissolve it in 7 liters of hot water. If you clean a little, but proportionally reduce the number of ingredients.
  • 2) Ammonia. The most inexpensive method. A bottle can be purchased at any pharmacy. But when using it, it is imperative to work with gloves. Suitable for use on all surfaces.
  • 3) Soda gruel. Soft abrasive. Nevertheless, a rare housewife in the kitchen does not have this box. To obtain a paste, it is necessary to mix soda and water in equal amounts. For great effectiveness, soda is often mixed not with water, but immediately with a soapy solution.
  • 4) Vinegar and soda. Sometimes they are mixed in advance, but can be used separately, mixing directly on the surface to be cleaned. To do this, spray vinegar with a spray gun, and sprinkle soda on top.
  • 5) Lemon juice. You can squeeze both juice from fruits and dissolve citric acid. In some cases, simply walking a slice of lemon over a contaminated surface is sufficient.
  • 6) Mustard. In rare cases, it is also used to cleanse fat. You can buy it in a store or cook it yourself from mustard powder.

Although most products do not carry such annoying properties as alcohol or vinegar, it is still advisable to work with gloves on. Prolonged skin contact with a cleanser, albeit gentle, can lead to a chemical burn.

Important!

It is necessary to clean the oven with rubber gloves.

Why not clean the gas stove

To avoid scratches on the plate, it is necessary to abandon the use of strong abrasive products.

Important!

If the surface of the plate is enameled, then it cannot be cleaned with any powders, even soda, since there is a high probability of micro-scratches.

Do not use metal sponges, as they can cause significant damage to the coating.

What kind of cloth to clean the stove

For washing the plate, an ordinary foam sponge for dishes is best suited. It absorbs liquid well and does not damage the coating. A soft mesh sponge is also suitable for this application, but it is rarely seen in stores.

Hard-to-reach areas require their own tools. So, in such cases, you can use a chopped sponge, an old toothbrush, toothpicks or brushes to comb your eyelashes. The main thing is that the tool used does not spoil the coating.

How to clean a gas stove at home: a sequence of steps

Putting the gas stove in order is not difficult, but it will require a certain amount of time and effort. In order not to hesitate and simply not to waste time in the process, thinking about what to go to the next moment, you need to follow the algorithm of actions.

Important!

Before any cleaning of the furnace, it is necessary to disconnect it from the gas in order to protect itself from the occurrence of an accident.

How to clean cast iron grates on a gas stove

The grid on the stove becomes dirty during any cooking, whether it was spilled or not. The blame is constantly growing soot. In order for the process to be time-consuming and short-lived, the grate should be washed daily with dishwashing detergent under hot water. But if you have already accumulated fat and soot, then this method of dealing with dirt will not work.

Any grate for easy washing can be presoaked in soapy water for 10 hours - This will greatly facilitate the removal of dirt, especially if it has already accumulated in large quantities.

Important!

For safety, before starting the procedure, remove the grill from the stove.

The choice of method for cleaning the grate depends on the material from which it is made:

  • 1) Cast iron. Such a product is best cleaned even from a large accumulation of soot by calcination. You can hold the grate over a fire or burning gas. Soap solution, or rather, steam, also copes well: for this it is necessary to put a baking tray with soap solution in the oven, place a wire rack on top, and then turn on the oven 180 degrees for 20-30 minutes. In some cases, resort to the use of means for washing the car engine. It copes well, but then the grate should be washed for a long time under running water.

  • 2) Stainless steel. This material is not afraid of contact with abrasive substances, so such a stainless steel grill can simply be rubbed with sand and a metal sponge. However, this method requires a sustained effort. Mustard is also suitable for use - it must be applied with a thick layer on the wire rack and left for a couple of hours, then wash off the remaining dirt with water. Vinegar and soda work well in this way.

  • 3) Enameled surface It requires a very careful attitude, as even too much effort can cause her damage. It is best to use a melamine sponge for it, however, if this option seems expensive, mustard and vinegar with soda will cope, but you will have to wait several hours for the reaction to pass.

Important!

At the sight of a large amount of soot, many housewives intuitively resort to scraping it with a knife - it is strictly forbidden to do this, since there is a high risk of spoiling the grate itself.

After washing, the grate must be well dried before installation back on the stove, since a wet surface attracts new fat and carbon deposits best of all.

How to clean hot plates

In most models of stoves, burners are collapsible, and they must be removed to rinse more thoroughly. If the design does not imply this, then it is necessary to thoroughly clean all difficult places with a toothbrush, toothpicks or eyelash brush. They will help to penetrate into the narrowest cracks and get the accumulated dirt from there.

Disassembled burners are initially soaked in soapy water or one percent vinegar for 20-30 minutes. After they are thoroughly washed under warm running water with a sponge or toothbrush (depending on the type of dirt).

How to disassemble burners for cleaning

The burner base is not removed from the stove. The burner is disassembled into its components:

  • cover;
  • divider.

When washing do not forget to clean the nozzlethrough which gas is supplied. When it is clogged, the burner works much worse, so you need to carefully clean it with a toothpick.

Important!

Using a needle or other metal tools in this case is strictly prohibited.

How to clean the front panel of the gas stove

Cleaning the front panel of the stove is just as important as all other elements, but many because of laziness do not pay enough attention to it, in the best case, simply wiping it with a rag.

You should also wash the surface of the front panel using detergents. The selection approach here is the same as for the gratings: it is selected depending on the material. In most cases, apply lemon juice, vinegar with soda, soda with soapy water and mustard. These products cope well with pollution and at the same time do not harm the coating.

How to clean gas stove handles

Handles most often have to come in contact with dirty hands; dirt constantly accumulates in them, which can interfere with their proper operation.

The cleaning principle is identical to the burners. If possible, the pens are removed and soaked in soapy water or weak vinegar, and then washed under water. If this is not possible, then they are thoroughly cleaned with a toothbrush with gruel from soda or toothpicks.

How to clean the gas stove body

The body of the stove is usually less soiled with respect to the whole stove, but do not forget to wash it. It is necessary to choose a cleaning agent, taking into account the material from which it is made. It is worthwhile to carefully approach the glass of the oven: do not use strongly abrasive products on it, since scratches will greatly impair visibility. Universal cleaning agents are soda, mustard and soap solution.. They are applied to the surface, left to act for several hours, and then washed off with a sponge and warm water.

Important!

Before washing the housing, it is advisable to disconnect the stove and turn off the gas.

Some tips on keeping your gas stove clean for long

The easiest advice is to wash off the dirt immediately as it appears. It is much easier to wipe the milk that has just run away than after it has already carefully adhered to the surface. It will be useful to take the habit of washing the stove daily with dishwashing detergent - it will not take much time, but after a week or a month you will not have to spend several hours washing the oven.

To facilitate the cleaning of the grill, you can pre-create a protective film on it. Prepare in advance a solution of PVA and soda in a ratio of 1: 3. After the next wash, apply the resulting solution to the wire rack and allow to dry. Subsequently, contaminants are washed off with this film quickly and with minimal force.
