What is better infrared heater or fan heater

The central heating system does not always cope with its task. For this reason, most people have a heater in their home. However, it may not suit its users if, for example, when buying, they did not pay attention to its features.

Good representatives of heating devices are a fan heater and an infrared heater. They both perform their function perfectly, but a number of characteristics are different for them, and this may affect which one will be most convenient for you to use.

Features of infrared heater

A distinctive feature of the infrared heater is that it does not heat air, but objects in the area: walls, floor, furniture. This contributes to a long preservation of temperature even after turning off the device.

When choosing a model, you should pay attention to the basis of which element it is made of. The following options are currently available on the market:

  • Halogen lamp. Its key element is the filament, which when heated emits in the infrared spectrum. At the same time, a glow emits from the lamp, which can interfere with high light sensitivity. Some are sure that such models emit harmful short waves, which is why they refuse to use it. Do not succumb to a general panic: a potentially dangerous model would not be allowed to enter the market.
  • Carbonate tube with quartz base and carbon fiber helix. Its main advantages include fast heating and high efficiency, but it also consumes a lot of energy, irritates with glow and is not suitable for allergy sufferers and asthmatics.
  • Ceramic element. It has a relatively low power, but at the same time it does not emit any glow that many users in other models do not accept.
  • Metal tube. It stands out among competitors with high strength and durability, which is why its price is significantly overstated.

Important! Refer when choosing plate material. Black is suitable for dry rooms, stainless steel - for wet.

Pros

Many users have long loved infrared heaters and for good reason. They have several advantages:

  • fast heating of the room;
  • lack of harmful effects on the body;
  • Do not create any smell during work;
  • various configurations that allow you to both carry the device and fix it permanently on a shelf;
  • during the heating process, air circulation is not involved, which could affect the creation of drafts, which is unacceptable in homes with small children.

Minuses

The disadvantages of this heater are few. Nevertheless, they are also significant:

  • high cost in relation to the fan heater;
  • annoying glow in many models;
  • widespread prejudice about the harm from radiation.

Fan heater features

The fan heater is similar in principle to an ordinary fan, but, unlike it, it heats air masses, and not just distills them. A special element is responsible for heating, which can be made of various materials:

  • Nichrome spiral. The high heating temperature of the element (1 thousand degrees) allows you to warm the air faster, but it is not a safety standard: there is a high probability of a fire when used improperly.
  • Ceramics. Heats up to 150 degrees, but nevertheless heats the air faster than a spiral, since it has a larger active surface. The low temperature range makes the element less fire hazard.
  • TEN. Its tubes are most often metal or quartz with a rod of graphite or wire. Such an element heats up to 500 degrees, which has a good effect on its efficiency, as well as on reliability.

Pros

Fan heaters are one of the most popular heaters. They won their place in the market due to positive qualities that are hard to miss:

  • availability (these are the cheapest heaters);
  • mobility (many models have a compact size and light weight, which allows you to carry them wherever you need, without extra effort);
  • heating speed (due to heating of the circulating air the room quickly becomes warm);
  • multifunctionality (most representatives in the summer can be switched to the ordinary fan mode).

Minuses

No matter how many advantages the fan heaters have, they also have a number of disadvantages, you simply cannot close your eyes to some of them:

  • fire hazard (they can not be left unattended and even more so fall asleep with the device turned on);
  • noise (all models create it in large quantities, which is very annoying if you need constant heater operation);
  • dry the air (rare are representatively equipped with a humidifier);
  • high power consumption.

Important! During operation, the fan heater raises dust into the air, which can be a strong irritant for allergy sufferers.

Conclusion

If, for no particular purpose, compare the pros and cons of both heaters, then infrared is the best for them. However, do not forget that everyone has different goals for the purchase of a heater. For many, the choice falls on the fan heater because of its low cost, the ability to use in the summer, as well as the temperature adjustment function. An infrared heater cannot perform such tasks, which does not make it a bad device. Just before buying it is important to first formulate the requirements for the device, and only after proceeding with its purchase, so as not to miss the choice.
