The printer prints through a line.

The main reason why a printer prints through a line, as a rule, is a cartridge where parts wear out, ink runs out or incorrect refills were made. Sometimes you need to repair the printing device or you just need to carry out preventive measures.

Why does the printer print through a line

For inkjet and laser equipment, prevention is different.

For laser printer

Spaces on a sheet usually indicate that toner is low. It is necessary to add it (along with this, check the other parts responsible for printing). But if you need to urgently print something, then we get out the cartridge and gently shake it.

But it will help to print only 30-60 pages.

For inkjet printer

In this case, there are more reasons:

  • clogged nozzle heads;
  • cartridge runs out;
  • serious head malfunction;
  • the loop connected to the head is broken.

Attention! Most often, the cartridge runs out. The ink level is usually visible in the device control dialog.

How to determine the cause

Sin for ink is necessary if the device suddenly began to skip lines. Other reasons are possible: a cartridge was recently refilled and a malfunction occurred (for example, a sheet was jammed and pulled out sharply) or something happened directly with the printing device (the printer was in the cold for some time, it was dropped or turned over).

Determine the ink level:

  1. In the printer management section, select the "Maintenance" menu. Turn on ink check.
  2. Visually detect ink levels.

Reference! In refill cartridges, the actual amount of ink sometimes does not match the meter data, so it’s best to get a cartridge and visually determine the ink level.

How to fix the problem

Ways to solve the problem:

  1. Insufficient cartridge seal. This usually happens after refueling. To check the sealing, you need to remove the cartridge from the device and peel it over a white sheet of paper. If ink appears on it, then the seal is broken. You need to contact the repair shop.
  2. Toner is low. In this case, the printer may not print lines. When this problem occurs, the cartridge simply needs to be refilled.
  3. The ink hopper is full. One solution is to clean the hopper. This procedure also needs to be done all the time after refilling the cartridge.
  4. Encoder contamination. An encoder is a translucent marked film that is located along the carriage. To remove dirt, open the housing cover and carefully clean the encoder with a lint-free cloth soaked in a cleaning composition. You need to give time to dry and the device can be operated.
  5. The magnetic shaft is deformed or there is a foreign object on it. If the printer prints through a line, this may indicate that there is a foreign object on the shaft (paper clip, piece of paper, adhesive tape). To fix this problem you need to remove the foreign body. If the magnetic shaft is deformed, then it must be replaced.
  6. Worn drum unit. This requires replacement of the part, since the photosensitive layer wears out over time.
  7. The toner dispenser blade is not fixed. In some cases, printing gaps appear due to an improperly fixed blade. It must be inspected, if necessary, fixed.
  8. Contact of magnetic shaft and drum is broken. To do this, you need to clean the shaft contacts and other elements. If the result did not give the desired effect, then you need to replace the elements with new ones.

The problem with skipping stitches is solved very simply. But if, after all the manipulations, the device also continues to print, this is probably a disease of a particular printer. In this case, it must be carried to a repair shop.
