Parquet size

Parquet refers to widespread natural coatings characterized by durability, environmental cleanliness and resistance to mechanical stress. But in order to take advantage of this material, it is important to choose its installation dimensions correctly.

There are different options for parquet. but when choosing, you need to understand in detail what parquet boards are.

Thickness

The dimensions of the floor, in particular its thickness, are determined by the brand of the material used, which traditionally has the following designs:

  1. Piece parquet in the form of strips, equipped with special grooves and ridges, has a fixed size in thickness of 16 mm.
  2. The thickness of the typesetting parquet, represented by square-shaped shields, can vary from 8 to 12 mm.
  3. For a parquet board, this parameter varies from 7 to 25 mm.
  4. And finally, the shield parquet (a type of type-setting) is characterized by an average of 15-30 mm.

Reference! The various models of this outdoor product are mostly distinguished by the nature of their pattern.

The choice of this parameter depends on a number of factors, the most important of which is the possibility of obtaining reliable and stable flooring.

Width

Typical typeset parquet is available in two versions, having a width of 40 and 60 cm. For the panel variety, these sizes are 40 and 80 cm, respectively. For piece parquet, made in the form of narrow strips, it can vary in the range from 3 to 10 cm.

Attention! The most popular ("running") size across the width of a piece parquet element is 7 cm.

When buying it, one should proceed from the fact that, at the request of the customer, the production of non-standard samples is possible. A typical board is represented by products having a width of the order of 13-21 cm.

Length

The length of the parquet blank is its main parameter, which largely determines the area covered by one element. Therefore, the selection of this indicator is usually given special attention. Typical trims have the following versions:

  • for medium lengths, standards of 28, 35 and 42 cm are set;
  • for long workpieces, this figure can reach 49 cm.

For various types of typesetting and shield parquet, the length is 40 and 60 or 40 and 80 cm, respectively. Parquet board has two standards (200 and 270 cm). The considered indicators are necessarily taken into account when choosing blanks immediately before arranging the floor covering.

The main criterion for choosing parquet products of this type is the dependence of the stability of the flooring on the thickness of the stacked blanks. When selecting this parameter, the necessity of grinding its surface should also be taken into account.

Important! Comparatively thin parquet blanks have to be mounted in those cases when the floor thickness cannot be increased due to the limited height of doorways and thresholds.

In products of the most common sizes (with a thickness of the order of 13-15 mm), a working layer of 4 mm is specially provided, allowing you to engage in scouring and grinding floors. Certain types of floorboards up to 25 mm thick are intended for laying in production rooms directly along the logs. This type of coating has a working layer of the order of 6 mm and allows multiple scraping.

When evaluating the length and width of a typical board, they usually proceed from the need to close a certain area with its blanks with minimal effort and time. It is this feature of the products of the parquet type, as well as the ease of installation that are the reason for the high attractiveness of this method of arranging floors in residential premises.
