Safe mode for Windows is an algorithm for starting a session with minimal parameters and practically without using most programs. Wallpaper will not be displayed on the desktop, startup applications will not start and work will become difficult if not impossible. If the secure startup algorithm was randomly turned on without the need for use, then such restrictions will greatly affect the work of the laptop.
How to enable and disable safe mode
Managing the operation of such a function does not require a large number of actions. When working in one of the programs in which the desktop remains accessible, you need to press the Windows + R key combination (the first key is located at the bottom of the keyboard and is indicated by a flag) to access a small window. In this window, you must enter "msconfig" (without quotes), and then accept the entered text. Immediately a new window "System Configuration" appears, where in the "Download" tab you only have to find the item "Safe Mode" and check (to enable) or uncheck (to disable). Under this label, when you turn on, you can see several download functions that you can configure.
Reference! From this window, the user can also edit the list of programs that start when the laptop is turned on. The applied changes will take effect after turning off the PC.
If you open the "System Configuration" window using the buttons for some reason, you cannot enter "msconfig" as an alternative in the Start menu search system, and select the only suggested option.
Why you need laptop safe mode
Starting the system in safe mode is detrimental to user convenience, but it is necessary to deal with problems in Windows. The list of some methods of its application:
- Checking the OS for viruses. Autoload is not used in this mode, so programs that start immediately and protect viruses from the scanning software will not work.
- System Restore. If you backed up your Windows settings, you can restore them. It is recommended that you do this in safe mode.
- Reinstalling drivers. If for some reason it is not possible to do this in the normal state of the computer due to system failures, it will turn out in safe mode.
- Solve a problem with some programs.
Why does the laptop only work in safe mode
If the laptop does not perceive changes in the loading of parameters, then this can be perceived as a symptom of damage to the computer.
As an additional option, you can try the following: during computer startup, press the F8 key several times, which will bring the user to the window for choosing startup methods. Launch options are located in this menu, and at the very bottom, apart from everyone, is the "Normal Windows Boot". It should be chosen for the correct start in the normal state.
If the laptop continues to run in safe mode even after that, then most likely there have been irreversible changes at the software level. In this case, it is recommended to purchase the installation disk (or reset its data to a USB flash drive if the laptop does not support the drive) Windows 7, 8, 10, or any other OS to taste, and install the system again. At the same time, there is a chance to save all the computer files by selecting the appropriate item in the menu.
